Monochrome World

Undefined clear blue sky lost in horizon far
All around one can see only verdant green cover
Golden sun shining bright up in the sky
Nary a cloud can be seen floating by

People same like me milling around happily
Same tune can be heard being sung merrily
Everyone neatly dressed in same dazzling white dress
No variations, none at all, there is no duress

Where have I landed, what did happen to me
If this is heaven, here I don’t want to be
Give me the world with all its diversity
A peaceful, monochrome heaven has no use for me

If the world was created in the image of the almighty
Why then was created all these diversity
Why for all the wisdom of the world
Everything not created same to behold

If a rose is a rose by whatever name it is called
Why the creator has only one name we are told
Why do we have to follow same path to reach the One
No harm in having different path if the goal is same

It’s a beautiful world with all its diversity
Should not be forced to adopt a pattern of familiarity
We can have uniqueness without stepping on another’s toe
Why should our diversity make us each other’s foe

Why listen to middlemen proclaiming the creator’s glory
Goading us to fight in the name of the creator with deeds of gory
Give me the world with all its uniqueness and diversity
A straight-jacket, monochrome world has no use for me

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

  1. Diversity is what makes the world beautiful. If all my tulips were red, a boring flowerbed it would be–lovin’ the rainbow of spring colors. Lovin’ my little live-and-let-live village where I can feel free to be myself. 🙂
