Tea is getting cold waiting for the master of the house to return.
Gone to fetch the morning newspaper that has not come.
Little does he remember that internet had killed the paper long ago.

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

In my own home, weekly newspaper is now reduced to 3 days / week. Still not everybody even reads those three days. There are so many different avenues of getting the news nowadays, and that too instantly, that newspapers are slowly losing relevancy. Sad.

Really sad you know. Kind of feeling as if we killed the Dinosaur.

Some of us old folks just like the feel and smell of paper…the ritual, the sound of snapping it open, and hiding behind it. I still prefer paper books. It’s hard to replace the experience of engaging all senses in the joy of reading…

And the difference in cultures. Newsagents in some parts of the world means not just newspaper seller but chocolate and cigarettes. And stamps. And tram tickets.

Great response to the prompt – very wistful and nostalgic. Of course, he could always look at the papers online 🙂

Not the same as reading a physical paper. But before Gutenberg, people did not have printed matter. We all need to learn to adapt. Evolution follows creation I think😊😊
