Finally after long one month of my forced bachelorhood, my better half came back on Sunday from her trip back home. I will have to admit that though there was some charm in the independence, days of worrying and loneliness were finally over. She had left for her trip just after our kids had gone to college, leaving me a complete empty nester. Being alone for a month after being married for so long gave me ample opportunity to think about what it meant having a wife.
I had to wait till she went to bed before starting to write this piece. I hope she does not read this. Those of us fortunate (or unfortunate) ones to have a wife will realize why I am reluctant once they read my poem that I am going to post after I finish writing this. Those of my readers who are wives, I hope you understand me trying my hand at some humor( though I do not think my sweetheart will)at your expense. My apologies.
So before my wife wakes up wondering what’s taking me so long to hit the bed, here is the starting word for my poem for week thirty nine of my fifty two weeks journey with the letter “W”. WIFE. Wife and women both start with W, I wonder why. That’s for some other day.
