Welcome to the land of the free and home of the brave
Enter at your own risk and be on your guard
Lest you be rounded up, imprisoned and deported
Can you feel the rise of intolerance and incivility
Once where there was promise of freedom and liberty
Mediocrity has risen its ugly head of hatred and racism
Ending slowly the concept of melting pot and unity in diversity
Welcome to a new era where fake news is reality
Endless rumors and lies become gospel truth
Little does it matter whether it is true or false
Conman of yesterday has now become the new savior
Oh how the pundits who thumbed their noses are kissing his ring
Merry go round of the rich are circling the power wagon
Eagerly waiting their turn for a piece of the crumb
Welcome to a new world order of art of the deal
Egalitarianism will be thing of the past and buried
Love thy neighbors as long as they are same as us be the creed
Camaraderie will be replaced slowly by cruelty
Oval office be the protagonist of misinformation and bigotry
Machiavellian doctrines will be the rule rather than exception
End of hope for generations to come
Welcome to the land of the free and home of the braves
Empower ourselves to fight for our rights
Laws may be manipulated, judiciary stuffed
Cowards we are not, must stand up and fight
On our shoulder heavy responsibility lies
Marching ahead with conviction, future is bright
Engaged, enlightened and emboldened, will overcome this blight

Wonderfully expressed your feelings towards the changes in power!

I can’t believe you have just 8 more weeks to go to complete your year of “W” Wednesdays. That is amazing! And this was a great poem, expresses what so many of us are feeling right now, division rather than inclusiveness and welcome. 🙂

Yep, eight more weeks to go.
Thanks for the kind words.
And I hope by the time eight week is over, the circus stops and serious governing begins. We can only hope.
