Existence mundane
Constant indoctrination
Where is freedom

From this exploitation

Bane of
Politicians and religion

Education, real, is freedom

Freeing mind of domination
Opening one to exploration
To question
Blind faith and fiefdom

Breaking the chain of serfdom
Education, real, is wisdom
Teaches humility, compassion
Not trumpeting humiliation
Inclusion, not division

Addition, not subtraction

Education, real, champions
Dialogue not aggression
Information not transgression
There is a reason
Spurious power on the throne
Throttles education
And it’s not random
Education destroys the demons
Of perpetual subjugation
A mind educated
Is not afraid
To step ahead
Challenge and be challenged
Compete and fight

For what is right

A mind educated
Is not blind
To the games
Being played

In their name

Educated population
Will challenge the throne
Privileges to be earned

Rights not bestowed

Powerful dread
A mind educated
They are afraid
Their world will end
When people all around
Are really educated
No pied piper
No blind follower
So march on
For real education

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

  1. Love it! As a teacher I feel fully identified with your powerful and eloquent poem. Yes, a tribute to education as the key to freedom. Love this:
    “Education destroys the demons
    Of perpetual subjugation”
