I can hear the raindrops pattering on the roof
Distant thunders clapping as lightning dances
Childhood dreams of splashing in mud rush through my mind
As the warm bed invites me to indulge my creaky old bones
Woke up in the morning in Iowa City to a thunderstorm, a rarity in California

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

Thank you so much. I grew up with monsoon where nature’s display used to be in full swing with thunder, lightning, wind and heavy rains. Compared to that California winter rains are calm affair. So when I woke up today at Iowa with a thunderstorm brewing, my mind just went back to my childhood.

Like my morning wake up call. Also my phone was sounding off with warning of flash floods. No danger here at home but the lawn is water filled. Highlight of my morning routine was to find the toilet flushed! It does not sometimes when the water is high in the yard. We are on septic tank, not city sewer. Enjoy your peace, Pranab.
