RIP

We wish the dear departed,

May thy soul rest in peace.

They are gone now and

Will be in eternal peace,

Whether we wish or not.

While we, the living, will ensure

That peace will be illusive

For all of us roaming the

World of the leaving dead.

Irony, will thou rest in peace?

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

  1. Beautifully written as always, Pranab. I like how you express the idea of the “illusive peace” and also the last verse still resonates with me: “Irony, will thou rest in peace?” Why can’t we reach peace? Today I feel so sad, sad, sad… for what is happening to my country. I know this is nothing compared to what is happening in many world contries But still …For me October 1, 2017 and October 14, 2019, will mark and are marking turning points in the history of Catalonia and Spain. How can the Spanish state send the police to beat up peaceful protesters, prosecute people for their ideas, imprison them and sentence innocent people to jail. In just one week, four people have lost one eye, each person, because of rubber balls shot by the Spanish police. I never thought this would happen. I believed Spain was a solid democracy, but no, the regime is turning more authoritarian each day. I wish I could escape and live somewhere else. But we need to lose our fear and keep up going out to the streets protesting peaceably. Our Catalan-Spanish conflict will never be resolved judicialising a political issue. We need international help, mediation. Please, watch this video and make it known to every one. We are not violent, we are not terrorists. It is the Spanish state that is constantly fabricating fake news. This is the truth: https://youtu.be/c04kj0nX688

    1. Non violence got India freedom but at what cost, a country divided, largest known migration of people, millions killed. A freedom that was supposed to prevent bloodshed still producing bloodshed, three wars and ongoing terrorism. The hidden price of an idea often is born by innocent people.

      1. I am so sorry for what is happening in India., Pranab. Here you have my greatest support. I can’t stand the bloodshed anywhere in the world where so many innocent people are dying. Different religion, ethnicity, language, sex, sexual orientation, etc. are just excuses to abuse innocent people. However, India’s freedom was a great achievement despite the terrible human cost. I guess the situation would be even worse today without that achievement, who knows. Thank you for your kind words, Pranab. Very appreciative of your great support.
