Just imagine
A world
Without internet
COVID-19
Would it have
So rapidly spread
The virus would
Still be there
Lack of news
It wouldn’t care
The world still
Merryly goes round
And when the news
Ultimately comes around
Nature would take its toll
And the ones left behind

Fleeting Muse 
It’s hard to imagine weathering a crisis like COVID-19 without the internet, our source of news, communication, school lessons, workability from home, virtual social events, etc. When the pandemic flu hit in 1918, it would have come as a surprise. People did the best they could, some lived, some died. (I read about a 101-year-old man who was born during the 1918 pandemic; he recently recovered from COVID-19. Wow!) Maybe the worst part of this is all the hype? The big looming shadow. If you had cancer and only a couple months to live, would you want to know, or would you rather be free of that knowledge and just go on about your business until the end comes? Great poem, PB. 🙂

Well, I don’t think we would have weathered it.
We may have weathered it just a little tad worse than what we are doing with all the fake assurances / news (?) being spread in social media.

Weekly newspapers would have reported an unexplained number of flu deaths this season. Summer would wipe the virus out and life would go on as usual for those still living. Thanks for the poem. Good reading.

True. As they are now doing. Many broken hearts now as a result of heavy losses. Just money? Yeah. That stuff that makes living possible if someone else is not working and giving you stuff. That stuff the homeless don’t have. And they are just given enough to supply the food that keeps them alive.

Without the internet we would be far worse than we are now. The Spanish Flu (1918-1920) killed between 25 to 50 million people.

Yes.
Without the internet, it got named as Spanish flu though the origin was in doubt😀 and life went on. The war that was supposed to end all war, didn’t. We had a second.
AIDS, Ebola, SARS, MERS, …., , life goes on.
Technology is a boon and it is a curse, if not used well.

There would not have been this panic but I am glad the internet is part of our lives. I make it a point not to look at the WhatsApp or Facebook in the mornings. I do listen to lectures on our Puranas in YouTube while doing other work. 🙂 Stay safe and healthy. Regards

Internet eases the pain of social distancing, no doubt about it.
But as you mentioned, it also spreads panic and fake news at the speed of light.

Internet is useful for meeting your family friends through audio video calls. Also useful for business to work from home. Thanks for sharing this useful poem…
