The last memories

when memories fail,

and I no longer recognize me,

take me to the sea shore,

and leave me there on the beach.

as the rays of the setting sun

sets the blue sky ablaze,

and the fingers of an approaching evening

tenderly closes my eyes one last time,

as the gentle waves of the sea

sing a haunting lullaby in my ears,

and the high tides cradle

and carry me to the comforting depth of the sea,

as this enchanting world slowly slips away,

let these last memories be engraved on my eyes.

and on the day of the new dawn,

may be in another little corner of the universe,

reincarnation, a new beginning.

when I open my eyes to start a new journey,

blessed with the last memories,

fortunate to be born in this earth,

this blue sky, the warm sands by the sea side,

endless expanse of a rolling sea,

where the setting sun goes down

every evening with a promise of

a new dawn,

let these last memories

be with me.

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

      1. I don’t understand. I had no barbs. And I assumed your belief was reincarnation. I thought I had written something you could not complain about. You cannot seem to comment on my belief without referring to “the old gray bearded guy.” That’s what I call barbs. I have not been derogatory to your faith in nothing. I’ve only invited you to join me in my faith in the eternal life much as I know life now except without sin, made possible because of Jesus. Anyway, sorry I offended you. Can I not admire your ability to write well without agreeing with content? I don’t get it.

      2. no way you offend me Oneta. It had been quiet for so long that I thought I need to bring some sparks into the interaction. Goal achieved and my sincere apologies🙏🙏.

Now about incarnation. I know it is one of the core beliefs of the Hindu faith. Not sure that I adhere to that belief though. For me, to do good in this life so that you are not born again and attain “moksha” or ” Nirvana” is like a bribe to people to do something in return of something. I believe you do good because that is the right thing to do.

And I also firmly believe is that only heaven we have is this earth that is a gift to us that we are squandering.

As for the barb’s, let them fly😀

      3. And Oneta, I never would even think of hurting your feelings. Your partner will give you a warm hug wherever and whenever(is that a word even) we meet. Now if this social distancing will only go away.
