I did not ask
anything from life
but life filled
the cup of misery
to its brim
perhaps life didn’t know
that I had given up
drinking long ago
life is welcome
to take it back

Below the surface thoughts to lift you up
Nice poetry. But I’m afraid it describes you “cup” too well. You’re breathing, thinking, and the feet hit the floor, and you are loved. That’s a good starting place.

Thanks, but what cup. I said I don’t drink😀.
Drove back alone from San Diego to San Jose yesterday. There were times when I did that in one day (about a thousand miles round trip). This time went on Thursday and returned on Saturday. Feeling like a zombie now. Of course Thursday night spent on packing up stuff at my daughter’s dorm, more packing on Friday and then shifting to her new shared housing by Friday afternoon. Looks like old age is catching up.

Long and tiring for sure. Was your daughter home for quarantine time?

She came back home at the end of the winter quarter and got stuck at home for the spring quarter because of the quarantine.

Reminds me of Jesus’ final hours, “Father, if it is your will, take this cup from me.” It did not happen for Him, and probably won’t happen for you, either. You don’t have to drink from it, but it might just sit there forever, like my sister’s plate in childhood, my parents making her sit at the table until she ate whatever she was being picky about. Truth be told, I didn’t like everything that landed on my plate but I learned to plug my nose and swallow so I could go play outside or watch TV. 🙂
