the price of indulging incitation,
paid by our silence to timely confront.
remember kristallnacht?
failure of the world at large
to stand up to a bully,
paid by bloods of millions of innocents,
and two atom bombs.
the world will never be the same again,
never again, we say
and then we keep mum,
when silence serves our purpose.
countless millions on the street,
the world lumbers from crisis to crisis,
many, a paycheck away from being on the street,
and our silence may put many out there soon.
one flash and boom it goes,
years of dreams down the drain.
the hearth has been stocked,
the fuel supplied,
a word evil, spoken from a distance safe, enough to spark
the fire of hatred.
as Rome burns, fiddles Nero.
and those who indulge and condone,
won’t even have the
rights to remain silent,
when they come for them.
Absolutely true. Not standing up or speaking up against any evil or wrong thing happening, is going to affect many including the silent ones here in this life. But Islam also requires us to be bold and not fear at such times. And if one does keep silent we will be questioned by the Almighty Lord, on the Day of Judgement. It is very scary.
Very good and relevant poem for all times, actually.
Excellent.

Thanks a lot.
We always pay the price of silence. Silence is not always golden.
Nothing to do with nationality, religion, language or color of skin.

Of course, silence in such situations would affect everyone regardless. But I only wanted you to know that Islam specifically forbids to be silent in such matters, at such times. And that we will be answerable one-day for not speaking up or taking actions.

This is apocalyptic in all its stark truth. It’s up to people (not religious believers or followers of any tried and failed exclusive club) to behave as human beings and defend what we call humanity. Keeping quiet and saying, God will provide or the equivalent is the same as collaboration.

Thanks Jane. Exactly my point. Slogans won’t get us anywhere.
