Fall is in the air

What was vibrant and verdant few days back

Today litters the ground, fallen leaves dry

Crunched under feet of those walking by

Is this nature’s way of warning us

Enjoy the ride while you can

In pride lies the seed of destruction

What goes up must come down

Fall from grace, humbled and resurrection

A mere spectator, I try to enjoy as life goes by

Fall is in the air

Faith, Creation and Creator

Rose is a rose
By any other name
Creator, not sanctioned by
One’s own faith
Why is not the same

Losing our faith
We stopped seeking
Finding solace in miracles
Allowing us to be fooled
By afterlife’s dreams

Lured by promise
Of redeeming our souls
Of a heaven unseen
We sold ourselves
Committing the original sin

Peddlers of faith
Conquered and plundered
In the name of the creator
Rained unspeakable destruction
Offer us salvation

Where did we go wrong
We all of different faith
Enjoy the same creation
But with daggers drawn
Defend our creator’s name

Manipulated by the unscrupulous
Mortgaging our brains
We dance, celebrating division
In our creator’s name
Who says creator not the same

Contradictions

A clear blue sky
Lacks definition.
Without a dark night,
For a bright day
There is no appreciation.
Without its spots
Moon won’t be as beautiful,
Road lacking few road bumps,
Journey is uneventful.
A blemish free life
There is no story to tell,
Without the past of Jean Valjean
Les Misérables won’t ring a bell.
Calm sea hides
Deep secrets in its bosom,
Vibrant nature in a moment
Wrecks havoc and destruction.
A world at peace,
Will it be boring?
Thought of violence
To appreciate peace,
It is depressing.
Even without appreciation
Rose will still bloom,
Even if no one looks
Beauty is not doomed.
A bipolar world
May be the norm,
Not an aberration.
Life is a saga
Full of contradictions.

Weapons

Weapons of mass destruction
Ever lost in the desert sands
All we have left are the lives lost
People who will never come home
Only those benefited who spread the lie
Never thought of the damages they did
Soul searching not their creed

Weapons of every kind has blood in them
Everyone is aware of that
Anyone who says weapons do not kill
People kills, knows that without weapons
Order of magnitude of killing
Never will be the same
Sanity and peace may result without them

Weapons line the pockets of unscrupulous few
Eager to make profits with blood of others
All is fair in love and war they say
Preaching the mantra of profit
Ominous cult of mercenaries
Nations that preach peace armed to the teeth
Silently eyeing where to start next conflagration

Weapons of love, Cupid’s arrows piercing
Enemy hearts to melt
Always wonder what it would be like
Peace and love in the world
Obsession with weapons forgotten
Nary a killing, no more wars
Somber thoughts, impractical

Weapons:Week Forty Six of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with the Letter ” W”

Those who defends the freedom of possessing guns are fond of reminding people that guns don’t kill people, people do.  Really?  From mythological time to present, it is weapons that has been killing people.  In modern times, weapons are big business.  States are major players in selling arms and weapons.  Everywhere around the globe we can see the devastation and mayhems that’s been created by weapons.  Stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction  can wipe civilization as we know of few times over.  Just imagine if all the resources that are being spent on weapons would have been utilized on development programs, this world of ours would have been a paradise.  But because of proliferation of weapons, all around the globe we have warlike situations prevailing.

All throughout recorded history, wars fought in the name of religion resulted in deaths to millions.  Followers of religions that preach peace and love did not and do not hesitate to kill non believers in the name of religion.  If there would have been no weapons, we would not have seen such devastation.  All God’s creation have been given inherent weapons to defend and feed themselves but no weapons to kill unnecessarily.  We humans call ourselves to be God’s best creation.  God has not given us weapons to kill others.  Alas, we are given a brain that we misused to invent weapons to kill and dominate others.  If we really would have utilized our brains properly, we would have invented weapons to spread love and peace, not death and destruction.

It may be a wishful  thinking, but we can always hope.  Maybe one day we will see the light and will find mythological arrows of Cupid to spread universal love. With that hope in mind, on week forty six of my fifty two weeks journey with the letter “W”, I start my poem with the word “Weapons”.

Peace and love to all my dear readers in this season of joy.

Wide

Wide is the expanse of the universe
Insignificant we are, a mere dot
Do not even register in the big scheme
Endless journey, destination unknown

Wide open is this world of ours
Inviting all of us to share
Delightful offerings of nature
Enjoyment to everyone that cares

Wide rivers rushing down to merge
Into the bosom of wide oceans
Down will come the water as rain
Enriching the earth to be fertile again

Wide vistas encompass us everywhere
In our hearts why then have narrow feelings
Destruction of this only home of ours
Endangering the world, why to bear this curse

*************************************
Wide in everything is of course not good
In too wide a midriff we will face grief
Diabetes may lurk in the shadows
Ending our lifestyle as we know it

Wildfire

Wildfire spreading with lightning speed
Instantly destroying everything on its path
Leaping ferociously from place to place
Dance of destruction, doom writ large
Fear in the hearts of the onlookers
Images of desperation and death all around
Reducing vibrant, verdant landscapes barren and black
Ending hopes and dreams of many it touched

Wildfire, are thou boon or bane of nature

Week 19 of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with “W”

Wonder

Second poem starting with”W” in the series of fifty two weeks journey with “W”.

Wonder why we are here
What is the purpose of life
Where did we come from
Where will we go
Wonder if we are alone in this universe
Why are we destroying this world of ours
Wonder what will be our legacy to progenies
Worry only death, destruction, famine or wars
While we debate and throw science to the winds
World slowly marches towards cataclysm
Wonderful world of ours one day
Will certainly be in ruins
Woefully unprepared to face reality
We march on to our final annihilation
Wondering all the time
Will we be ready for rehabilitation
World of ours is a
Worthy cause to fight for
Wonder if we all get together
Winning the war against ignorance
Words of enlightenment spread far and wide
Will we be able to reverse the tide
