Taunt of Time

with all due respect to where it belongs, a tongue in cheek poem dedicated to the pedagogy of time.

I just wanted a lead,
A straight shot to her heart,
Wanted just a few minutes
Of her time,
But she had none;
She gave me a book,
A small one to read,
Only one equation, she said,
Told me once I understood well,
Come back and need to tell,
The story of the book,
A Brief History of Time.

Never in my life I thought
I would hate someone,
Who was dead and gone,
Oh Hawking,
Was that your way of
Having fun,
To tinker with time?
Days have turned into nights,
From the time
I was given the book,
Time stood still for me,
Taunting me day and night.

I read and read,
And then read again,
And tried to understand;
Who defined brief,
Nothing brief about time,
Except the few moments
That I asked from her, and the
Much shorter time
I was dismissed,
Time just flies.

Now I even dread to understand,
And go back to her,
As time ticks and taunts,
I fear if she hands me
A long history of time to read,
Life will pass by,
Time will fly,
And before I have my
Brief moment,
My time with her,
It will be time for me to go,
And meet Hawking
With his book in hand,
Ready to drill into my head,
The concept of time,
Either brief or long.

How can eternity be brief?
I am no Einstein,
But Hawking is wrong,
There is nothing brief,
About time;
Don’t get fooled by those
Big words,
(or are they the big bangs),
Lest you end up in
A black hole;
Ah, I feel enlightened,
And I feel brave,
As I get ready to meet
My love,
and proclaim,
When I am ready to
Be with you
From here to eternity,
And beyond,
There is no meaning to
The brief history of time,
Let the dead rest in peace,
Till eternity beckons.

Eternity Waits -a set of haiku

You gave me your hand

roses bloomed in the desert

and I lost my mind

*****

River runs to sea

confluence waits eagerly

oblivion waits

*****

Tumultuous sea

dark sky embraces the waves

horizon waits dawn

*****

As gentle waves crash

hot sands wait the cooling touch

thirst unquenchable

*****

Eternity waits

roses fragrance desert nights

time has no meaning

Loved for eternity

day will come
when our paths diverge
a new life waits you
while I walk alone
down memory lane
what lies ahead, destiny
death will knock on the door
when the time comes
but tonight fill my cup
this moment that
I am with you
pour me so much love
that it overflows
let me satiate my thirst
and drown in your love
let me capture the
moments we have left
and fill my heart
so that the poison
never touches my
lips again
and when the grim reaper
stands behind me
shall I say
I have no fear of thee
for I have loved
for eternity

Life

Time and again I fall
See no way up
Deep dark abyss
Cruel fingers of self pity
Drags me down
Herculean efforts to overcome
Tendency to curl up
In a fetal position
And let it go
Somewhere in my heart
A light still flickers
Fight is not over
Life is for the long haul
In love will find resurrection
Forward march is the only way out
Eternity beckons

Price of Silence

Meeks shall inherit the world
But the world will extract
Sweet vengeance
Leaving the meeks to ruminate
What could have been
As they are left to
Dance a macabre dance of death
On the tombs of millions
Littering a scorched earth
Sent to their untimely deaths
By  deadly silence of the meeks
That could be heard
Across the world
Silent approval of
The misdeeds of a few
Till the end of eternity
Meeks will have time to rue
The price of silence
Will weigh heavily
Nobody else to blame
But we

Well-being

Well-being and happiness
Endless joyous days and nights
Life a pleasant journey
Lovely state of mind

Beware, all good things come to an end
Eternity is but just a pipe dream
Infuse yourself with goodness and good health
Never be swayed by greed and always run after wealth
Give yourself the gift of a kind and loving heart

Wealthy you may not be, but sense of
Well-being and happiness will follow you around

Well-being or wellbeing, my dear reader, decide you may
While I happily accept both and merrily go my way

Wheel

Wheel of life revolves slow and steady
Turning slowly towards its ultimate goal
H
ighs and lows, bumps on the road,
Nothing can stop its continuous roll
Eternity may be the quest of
Incarnations of the immortal soul
Eternal is not this life of ours,
One day we must leave this watering hole
Live life to its fullest, without fear,
Everybody will have to pay the toll

Life is a List

Life that has become a list of hurried events and to-do-list is meaningless.

Calendar of To-Do-List,
Tasks to be completed,
Interactions
Meaningless gestures,
Impatience reigns.
Life has become
An accumulation of
Hurried events.

Silent voices
In our brains,
Lost in the cacophony
Of meaningless sounds,
Talks fail to communicate.

We wait for the moment
To check every bullet
On the to-do-list,
Strike through every task,
Before we stop
To smell the roses,
Roses have withered.

If there is life after,
Somewhere beyond eternity
Where time has no meaning,
Dark voids of space,
Absolute vacuum,
Where sound is silent,
Hand in hand
We walk.
Life meaningful again,
Not a list of
Hurried events.
सिफ़र.

Everything and Nothing. And then some words.
