Let the Sleeping Monster Rest in Peace

Buried deep inside
In a corner dark
Lurks the monster
Trying to rip my soul apart. Continue reading “Let the Sleeping Monster Rest in Peace”

Storm

Another school shooting, another debate. When will this stop?  Congress have blood in their hands. Hiding behind the second amendment, debate will go on between the gun lobby and those clamoring for gun restriction while innocents will pay the price.

I wrote this poem a day after six religious fanatics shot dead hundred and forty nine people including hundred and thirty two students in a school in Peshawar, Pakistan on December 14, 2014.  Originally posted this poem in my blog on December 20, 2015.

Storm

There was a storm here yesterday,
And I saw this tree
Bereft of all the beautiful colored foliages,
Strewn all around it on the ground.
One leaf was clinging to a branch
Quivering in the winds, trying to hang around.

Secrets of Mr. Hyde

I search my soul in vain
For the secrets of Mr. Hyde
Hiding deep inside
Unannounced
He makes his moves
Waiting for the darkness
Ready to fry my brain
Thoughts repulsive
Repugnant
Tie my limbs, I can
But the mind digress
Temptations
Did Satan corrupt Eve
Or God impregnated us
With duality
Forbidden fruit or necter
As night goes, daybreak
Evil will pass
Goodness reign

Vagabond (লক্ষ্যবিহীন পথিক)

I wrote this poem on Christmas Eve morning while having my breakfast. Everybody else was still enjoying their Saturday morning nap.  I wrote the poem first in my mother tongue, Assamese (Axomiya) , and then translated to English.  Posting both versions here.

Vagabond

No complaints
No expectations
Sans desire
Bumps and bruises
Constant struggle between
Good and evil
Life has no hand
On past long lost
Nor on coming future
Everywhere I look
See my imprint
Life not responsible
For anything
Life on its own path
I
An aimless vegabond

Warning

Warning clouds rumble on the horizon
Anxious citizens play wait and see game
Rich are getting ready to get richer
Never in doubt about the outcome
Insecure dreamers dread doubtful future
Not knowing what will happen with their lives
Greed is getting ready to trump good for ever

Warning to all of us who chose to ignore
Are we now ready to pay the price
Risk of a nation divided by ugly vitriolics
Novelty of change will wear out soon
Immigrants are bad unless wives of POTUS elect
Narcissist nabob will make the people dance
Great hyperbole will trump common sense

Warning message to those who did not care
All’s not lost yet if you dare to oppose
Russian puppet shows ruining your life
Now is the time to come together
Insure that you won’t be rolled over
Need to be vigilant to preserve hard won rights
Get ready to trump their evil designs
