Spread the news

As my whatsapp contact list gets longer and longer
And my memory becomes weaker and weaker
Did I miss any one in the list to send my cut and paste, I wonder
Scan all post forwarded to find the one to share
If I don’t I am sure that there would be a danger
Of world falling into knowledge gap and committing blunder
I check the responses attentively to decipher
Hidden meaning of the emogies of an inbox cluttered
It’s the response of fake news that I most fear
I just wanted to spread the news, I hope it is clear
If you don’t like to be educated, delete it my dear

Friday Freebies: It’s a Birthday

Well the birthday is not actually today but it is being celebrated today at the university where the university library is named in his honor.  His birthday is tomorrow, March 2.  But hey, it’s Friday, party time and I am sure he would not mind.  He most probably would have loved it today, being surrounded by young folks, many of whom must have Continue reading “Friday Freebies: It’s a Birthday”

WRITESPIRATION COMPETITION #118 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 22 – Super-Bad Villains!

He promised the people the earth and the moon
He was pompous though he did not look like a goon
He could talk trash with the worst of them all
No good people could tolerate his trashy drawl
He won’t divulge the source of his money
Always boasted how smart he was and how brainy
Everyone of his competitors hated his brashness
They will shout to the high heavens “My goodness”
None of the competitors liked to be in the same podium
They said that he was uncouth and did not have any decorum
He could not speak a single complete sentence that made sense
Little did he care as long as he can hoodwink people, making them dance
Twitter was his medium as it suited him well
Followers lapped up his words, their ranks did swell
His boat nearly sank when words leaked out of his dirty talk
All his good followers stood behind him like a rock
Faith and religion be damned as long as we have our own
In people’s house so that the our good justices can be sworn
Manipulating and colluding, bamboozling to the best of his ability
Vanquished everybody, made mockery of democracy
“Fake news” and “covfefe” will be his lasting legacy

Writerspiration Competion #118

Choice

Choice to have a slow death
Lingering pain slowly sucking away
My last breath
While you rejoice
At the beauty of your lying creation
Of giving  everybody a free choice
You made sure that giving me
A choice I neither asked nor wanted
You and your cronies
Living in an alternate universe
Will line your pockets with riches
While I count my days
Burdened by your fake choices

Welcome

Welcome to the land of the free and home of the brave
Enter at your own risk and be on your guard
Lest you be rounded up, imprisoned and deported
Can you feel the rise of intolerance and incivility
Once where there was promise of freedom and liberty Continue reading “Welcome”
