Impatience of Youth: Tender and Who

This poem is written in response to Ronovan’s weekly haiku challenge, the words for this week being “Tender and Who”. In addition to that Ronovan introduced a new twist to his challenge that he called Shi Rensa Haiku. Check it out by clicking on the link (Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku #364).

Asked tender rose bud,
Who are you and why running,
Wait, smell the roses.

Wait, smell the roses,
Said old man by the roadside,
Who you running from?

Who you running from?
Youth I met on the road asked;
To find me I run.

To find me I run;
Cries the child, a life ruined;
Impatience of youth.

Dark was the night

These set of Haikus reflect my thoughts about the current situation of fires sparked by lightning in northern California

dark was the night sky

lightning’s macabre dance struck

prometheus laughed

*****

blue was the dawn sky

quick stepping fire, sensuous

grey sky hid the sun

*****

ravenous hunger

terrain, a sumptuous meal

scorched earth cries dry tears

****”

dreams collapse and die

nature’s fury relentless

a colorless sky

*****

dawn breaks, a dim sun

unstoppable red devil

bravehearts stand guard

*****

Time Not A Healer: A set of Haiku

Gently flows the creek

Time flies like arrow forward

Lonely lover waits

*****

Meandering trail

Rushing creek sings lullabies

Jilted lover cried

******

Summer heat rises

Languorous mid-day slumbers

Wounded heart drips slow

******

Creek just a trickle

Time marches on relentless

Bleeding heart searches

******

Dry creek lost it’s way

Cruel time not a healer

Lover’s broken heart

The Key to Memories – set of haiku

once adolescent

romantic exuberance

ah, spring in the air

*****

words overflow, joy

love, pure and unbound, to share

luxuries of youth

*****

chest of memories

keys thrown, lost, bleeding heart weeps

passion takes roots, waits

*****

summer follows spring

harsh life, a dormant passion

hardy roots grow strong

*****

superfluous keys

memories of youth bygone

the tree grows stronger

This post is in response to Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge .

River takes own course
Create dams, let power flow
Narrow minded cries
*****
River, narrow, dies
Broad minded man eulogise
Sacrifice worth it
*******
Mind self interest
Narrow vision, pundits say
Unjust criticism
*******
Our God is only God
Non-believers be in hell
God narrow minded?

History Retold – Son et lumière: RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge # 244 Sound & Motion

This post is in response to Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge .

Horses galloping
Thunderous cannons booming
Sound and light magic
*****
Applause galore mutes
Mirage of past lights up walls
Ghosts move silently
*****
Forgotten fallen
Unfortunates weep silent
Despots preen again
*****
