Dragonfly

Sunrays filtering through her translucent wings,
As she rose effortlessly,
What a beauty she was,
Pure and unspoiled,
As I ran after her,
Oblivious,
She hopped from flower to flower,
Oh such a beautiful day,
Shiny and bright,
Such a joy it was,
To be with the
Dragonfly in flight.

Why did you steal my
Childhood from me,
You, who dress in piety,
Those lips that proclaim the
Name of God incessantly,
How can it hide teeth so sharp,
Shredding me to pieces,
You who proclaim special days
For children, women and mothers,
Speak of the divine and of heaven,
Did you ever think of hell,
When you stole my childhood
From me and left me to rot,
In your hell.

The wings are now torn,
No more translucent,
They don’t reflect
the sunlight no more,
Its limp body shaking,
The dragonfly lies in the
Palm of my hand,
I close my fist,
Darkness.
There goes a monster,
He says,
Piously calling God,
And
Praying for my salvation.

Ah, do you notice
The dark shadows
Of sin
As the saints
March in.

In search of the Unknown

gaze fixed on the stars,
a heart lost to the roses,
mind roaming the
realms of the unknown,
I take flight.

the light has shone,
alas, long gone,
darkness all around,
all illusion,
I seek the unknown.

what the heart felt,
the mind perceived,
eyes seek in vain,
try to comprehend,
all encompassing unknown.

from subconscious
to consciousness,
I soar,
my senses feel,
merge into the unknown.

Heartbreak

Conditioned by heartbreaks such,
that I now look at praise askane;
if you find me aloof and distant,
know it’s not me, but
the fear of rejection
raising its ugly head;
I now fear the light that
hides the truth,
and embraced darkness unpretentious;
darkness that glitter with false light,
where hopes are drowned
in promises of elixir of life,
and love is traded and exchanged
in flesh markets;
Oh ye all with high hopes
of a bright future in your hearts,
enter here at your own risk,
for here hopes come to die,
and heartbreaks reign supreme.

Love so sweet

Why not release me from this bondage of love
A candle lighted from both ends, have nothing more to give
Your silence speaks volume that I am unable to decipher
Either you sent the wrong signal or my heart got the wrong vibe
You bind me with a string so strong that I can only follow
Love so sweet, the fear of leaving you has left my heart hollowed

Friday Haiku: Dreaming of Heaven

Dreaming  of heaven

All nonbelievers to hell

Faithful cries out loud

*****

Only one I see

A heaven on earth for all

Heaven is sterile

*****

The light shines on me

You  have colors of the rainbow

Why need monochrome

***

Light everywhere

One and same for all creatures

The fools disagree

*****

An wink and a smile

Embrace the diversity

Heaven, dream no more

We are here now

We are here now

Does not matter

How we got here

We dug the hole

Where we find us

We must find a way

To crawl up the wall

Sunlight waits yonder

Blame destiny if we

Want to lament fate

If we feel powerless

Then make peace

With the frog

In the hole we dug

And find your music

As it croaks

Dance to the cacophony

Or else if needed

Stand on each other’s shoulder

And crawl up

Pull up the others

Beneath you

There is great strength in number

Don’t let it go to waste

We are here now

Darkness

We will have to

Find our way out and

Light the candle

Let truth shine

Darkness and Deep:Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge #154

Covered in darkness
Religious fanaticism
Deep hatred rules heart

Let there be light
To clear this deep darkness
Love may trump hatred

Life

Time and again I fall
See no way up
Deep dark abyss
Cruel fingers of self pity
Drags me down
Herculean efforts to overcome
Tendency to curl up
In a fetal position
And let it go
Somewhere in my heart
A light still flickers
Fight is not over
Life is for the long haul
In love will find resurrection
Forward march is the only way out
Eternity beckons
