Weapons:Week Forty Six of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with the Letter ” W”

Those who defends the freedom of possessing guns are fond of reminding people that guns don’t kill people, people do.  Really?  From mythological time to present, it is weapons that has been killing people.  In modern times, weapons are big business.  States are major players in selling arms and weapons.  Everywhere around the globe we can see the devastation and mayhems that’s been created by weapons.  Stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction  can wipe civilization as we know of few times over.  Just imagine if all the resources that are being spent on weapons would have been utilized on development programs, this world of ours would have been a paradise.  But because of proliferation of weapons, all around the globe we have warlike situations prevailing.

All throughout recorded history, wars fought in the name of religion resulted in deaths to millions.  Followers of religions that preach peace and love did not and do not hesitate to kill non believers in the name of religion.  If there would have been no weapons, we would not have seen such devastation.  All God’s creation have been given inherent weapons to defend and feed themselves but no weapons to kill unnecessarily.  We humans call ourselves to be God’s best creation.  God has not given us weapons to kill others.  Alas, we are given a brain that we misused to invent weapons to kill and dominate others.  If we really would have utilized our brains properly, we would have invented weapons to spread love and peace, not death and destruction.

It may be a wishful  thinking, but we can always hope.  Maybe one day we will see the light and will find mythological arrows of Cupid to spread universal love. With that hope in mind, on week forty six of my fifty two weeks journey with the letter “W”, I start my poem with the word “Weapons”.

Peace and love to all my dear readers in this season of joy.

Wait and Waiting:Week Thirty One of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with the Letter ” W”

Wait!

We are always waiting for something in life. When will our wait be over? Want morning cup of coffee, wait till it is brewed. Want to go somewhere, wait till leave is approved and tickets are confirmed. Want to fall in love, wait till the person you are dreaming of somehow materializes. Want to go to college, apply and wait. Want a job, apply and wait for being called to interview.  Once the interview is over, wait for the rejection letter that will never come.  And once your sweetheart accepts the proposal and wedding  bells start ringing, wait for the day when…, well you must have got the gist.

So my dear readers, I will not make you wait for my word starting with “W” for week thirty one of my fifty two weeks journey with the letter “W”.  The poem, for once, is ready to be posted as soon as I publish this blog.  Till next week then, adios (did Trump say that to El Presidente).

Wait and Waiting

Wait now that the job is done
Applications are sent, now chill
Interview call may come or not
Time seems to remain still

Wait in the queue
All waiting for what’s due
Impatience is not a virtue
Total wastage, what to do

Wait till the last moment, procrastinate
Always late to file, great
It’s now time for penalty
Tax filing date has passed, guilty

Wait for the love of your life, so
Anxious how your date will go
Inside your heart is trembling
Though outwardly you are smiling

Waiting games we play
All’s fair in love and war, we say
In sickness and happiness
Till death do us part
Inclined to believe all these, if
Nuptials are preceded by a bulletproof
Good prenuptial, otherwise

Wait for all hell to let loose
As we know, sooner or later
It is going to happen
Too bad nothing lasts forever
In this world
Neither good nor bad
Gonna matter, so

Wait no more
All you can do
Is to let go
Take care of what you have
It’s what you have that’s matter
Now is the time
Go get a life

God: Father, why not Mother

Why does God be father
And not mother
Does our quest
For an unknown creator
Rein in our imagination
That we can not fathom
When in reality
Mother carries the burden
Of creation
Our feeble mind
Glorifies a father figure
Neglecting the one
Who nourishes our life
And showers us with
Unquestioned love
From the time of conception
Through every step of life
Is it because
Those who created the
Image of a God
Distant from own creation
Influenced by fathers
Who kept a distance
From their lives

Warm and Warmth

Warm feelings cascading through my veins
Imagining caressing of mother’s hands
On burning forehead dripping sweat
Pain and suffering gone in an instant

Warmth of those hugs and kiss
Fills the heart with perfect bliss
Enough to last a complete lifetime
She is gone but feeling of warmth still mine

Warm glow of that first love
Kept in a corner of heart safe
When chips are down and life is hard
Look back and encouraged to go forward

Warm feelings of holding my newborn
When those innocent eyes first opened
Looking at my eyes seeking assurance
Heart melt, still not frozen

Warm sunny days as I look up to the sky
Lying on the beach as life goes by
Source of all life slowly warming me up
A silent thank you to the sun from my heart

Week 12 of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with “W”

Write Anything Wednesday 4-20-2016

Broken Heart

Don’t you try to fix  broken heart
Don’t you put some healing balm
Don’t you try to run away
Don’t you cry alone

Don’t you try to drown your sorrows
Drinking whisky and rum
All you get is nasty hangover and
Headache to kingdom come

Broken Heart will not heal
You will be left to mourn alone
Better to start afresh
Let bygone be bygone

Open your heart to the world
Let the light shine
Broken Heart may not heal
But it will learn to sing again

Let love flow like a river
From high above the mountain
Let love heal broken heart
Whole world will be your own

Don’t cry for your broken heart
Whatever happened has happened
Step out to a whole new world
Love will heal your heart of old.

Week 10 of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with “W”

Not sure why I have not been focussed at all today.  I sat down to write and I digressed. No, it is not writer’s’ block. Ideas are continuously bombarding my mind, pushing to come out and defile the computer screen. It’s just that extra push I am not been able to give myself to sit quietly and write. That extra push that is needed for many of us to get out of bed and start the day. That extra push that is needed to take us out of a funk and go out and achieve something.  That extra push that is needed to get out of our night clothes , shower and go ahead to start the day. That extra push that converts work from drudgery and chores to fun. That extra push that is needed to lift us from thinking “what’s the point of doing all these” to “Yes, we can”.  Sometimes we need help, but the best help as we all know is self help.  It will have to come from within ourselves to respect us. If we do not love us, how can we love others? Nothing great comes out of hatred. Feelings of depression and melancholy will definitely trickle down to one’s expression including writing.

Ah! writing.  I still have to find a word starting with the letter “W” for my poem for week ten of my fifty two weeks journey with “W”.  Already half of Wednesday is over and I have not yet posted anything for “Write Anything Wednesday” for April 6. I have made this commitment to myself for the year long journey and I do plan to keep it, if I can find anything. Now that’s funny, anything for “Write Anything Wednesday”. I don’t think I am getting any external help in this, so I have to look within myself to find the word and write a poem about it. “Within”, now that’s a word starting with “W”. So why not write a poem starting with “Within”.  What can go wrong? Nobody reads poems anyway.  So with that thought, it’s off to lunch I go. Digressing again, but promise to come back soon, write my poem and post it before Wednesday is over. Who knows what Thursday holds.
