heart in turmoil
a calm face
emotions masked well
we dance through the day
trained actors we are not
but give an
Oscar winning performance
those who are blessed
to enjoy life
as they chose
nature’s beauty abounds
those hunkered down
by the weight of the world
oblivious,
focussed only from
where the next meal comes
panhandler on the street corner
is she there by choice
on this day there will be someone
who will lose all hope
and give up
as the charade continues
life goes on
we chose the masks
that fit us well
willing or not
performance must go on

Veil
Have you ever tried to lift the veil
Beneath the laughter there is aching pain
A true friend is one who sees through
I know you have pain of your own
That you never shared
I scratch the mask you wear
But I tread gingerly
Lest won’t be able to bear the pain
The scars that you carry
Lie safely hidden
My heart aches
As we tango
Circling
Life goes on
Abnormally normal
Entwined
Lovers
Lost in our
Own lies
Look at the Mirror
Fear looking at the mirror
The lies, the deceptions
Stories that were told Continue reading “Look at the Mirror”
I have not changed
I have not changed
I learned to live
With a long list
Of unachieved goals
Ghost of accepting
The inevitable
Things that I can’t change
Does not faze me now
Hiding behind a mask
Of my own making
Tolerating unseen pain
Is no longer acceptable
I am free of the shadows
Lurking behind the veil
Not defeated
My soul is free
Garbage of the past
Unburdened
Forward to future
I have not changed

Glare of the bright lights and hoorahs mask the pain and tears behind masochistic mask
Modern day gladiators march on to their untimely demise for the pot of gold
While emperors play the fiddle paying lip services to cavernous greed of the proletariat
Unrecognized Reflection
Reflection in the mirror
Unrecognized
Those long years
Face looking back
Unknown
Masking heart’s desire
Simple pleasures of life
Unfulfilled Continue reading “Unrecognized Reflection”
Windows
Window is the face to one’s heart
If that is true why face is a mask
Never letting anyone know what’s brewing inside
Dark thoughts camouflaged by a sweet smile
Only the person knows what lies behind the
Window that nobody knows is open or closed
Such is the mystery of our daily life
Windows to my heart
Is open to all
Nothing to hide
Darkness does not reside
Only if I would have known
What is the secret to win my
Sweetheart’s soul
