Just remember me

just remember me
as the gust of
the west wind,
scented with wild flowers
that gently caressed you
for a brief moment in time,
and set your
heart on fire,
not with desire,
but something sublime.

astral music perhaps,
a few words divine,
that murmured
life is beautiful,
let the sun shine.

and

when I leave the
bounds of this
mortal world,
and pass into
oblivion,
if my memory
brings a smile
to your lips
without rancor,
it was a life
lived well.

I may not know,
I may not feel,
But I know
that smile
will put wind
to my sails,
and I shall
pass in peace
the bounds
of this world.

For a Heaven Peddled

For a God unseen
We sacrifice
Those who need ours
We leave them
To mercy of God
Indoctrained from childhood
We offer prayers
And fill the coffers
Of those
Whose business is
The soul of mortals
Who amongst us
Has seen afterlife
For a heaven peddled
We mortgage our present
And create hell
On earth
While the custodians
Of morality
Turn a blind eye
As the powerfuls
Bend the rules
They have sold
Their souls
And tangoed with
The devil
Offering balms
To our tortured souls
If politics makes
Strange bedfellows
Religion is not
Far behind

Last Request to a Long Lost Friend

Cat and mouse game
I don’t want to play
A long embrace unwanted
So please don’t overstay
My long lost friend
You are neither
Defied nor deified
Invited you are not
But futile to resist
Your inevitable visit
So here is my last request
Don’t make me suffer
A long embrace
Pains of a long
Drawn out goodbye
I will welcome you
With open outstretched hands
Let it be a game of
Instant mortal combat
You the declared winner
I say adios
And depart
Till we meet
Somewhere,
Someplace again
