Before it is too late

Sailing down the river of passion

At breakneck speed,

If we had time

To catch our breath,

Thousands of ways

I could have told you

How much I loved you.

Now as life is winding down,

And before the call comes,

I will just take a moment, and

Without much ado,

Simply say,

I love you.

I love you.

O thou pure of heart

No sin was committed
In the garden of Eden
What was pure
And natural
Was forever cursed
Banished from the garden
Carrying the blame of lust
O thou pure of heart
How thee lusted
In thy heart
For the forbidden fruit
And blamed the serpent
Letting God go scott free
One who created all
Must have created
Love and passion
And lust
The day
Darkness of our hearts
Clouded the sunshine
Of our minds
World became a
Dreary place to live
In our fear blemished life
We all have pains
that we carry unseen
Passing time
Fading memories
Lessen heartaches not
Blessed are those
With life a clean slate
Unburdened by the curse
They carry their secrets to
Their graves

Scattered Snippets

I wrote a Hindi poem couple of days back and shared with my friends, many of them whose mother tongue is Hindi.  As none of them came after me with an ax, I dared to translate it to English and post today.  I am also attaching the original Hindi poem here. I am sure some of my readers, whose mother tongue is Hindi, may find fault with my Hindi.  My apologies.

Scattered Snippets

O’ love, cruel oppressor mine,
Ask me not
Where leads my path.
Home, I left for you
Heaven or hell
Does not matter now, Continue reading “Scattered Snippets”

Worship & Goddess: Aphrodite, Durga and Nirbhaya

Nirbhaya gang raped

Durga, Goddess of Power(Shakti), is worshipped by Hindus in different forms.
On 16 December, 2012, Nirbhaya was brutally gang raped and her boyfriend beaten by a group of six men in New Delhi, India. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Fistful of Stars Covered by Dark Clouds : Collection of Five Short Poems

Wrote this collection of five short poems first in my mother tongue, Axomiya(Assamese), couple of weeks back.  Translated these to English today with the Axomiya version following.  The first poem, titled If Death be a Lover was posted on my blog on March 16, 2018.

If death be a lover
And grants only one wish
Will make death promise
To embrace and take me whole

Cursed forever to a life wronged

‘Troy passed away in one high funeral gleam,
And Usna’s children died.’  – W.B. Yeats

Thou shalt bear the fruit of love
Thous shalt bear the fruit of passion
Thou shalt bear the fruit of lust
Thou shalt bear the fruit of the demon
Thou shalt bear the fruit of rape
Thou shalt bear the fruit of incest
Gave her the boon of motherhood
And the strength to bear the pain
Took away her freedom, freedom of choice
One that cursed her forever to a life wronged
Must be the One created by man

This poem is in response to Jane Dougherty’s A Month (November) with Yeats Challenge day Nine
