For a moment of peace and solitude

A clear blue sky not

Set on fire by the setting sun

A life of smooth sailing not

Bestows experience to face the unknown

Nature is neither crooked not malevolent

Expectations, untempered by reason, result in heartburns

We blame fate for what others point as failures

If they would have only known

I have walked past my success and left it behind

For a moment of peace and solitude

Peace does not flow from the Barrel of a Gun

Peace enforced by power of the sword

A dubious co-existence at best

Shimmering discontent lurks beneath

To raise its ugly head

Once the sword is rusted

And another one takes its place

Those who take up the cudgel

To spread peace in the name

of the enlightened one

Those who profess to spread the

One and only truth

Preaching to high heaven

The glory of the enlightened one

Hope there is still a small window

To your heart

To let the sun shine

Accept and acknowledge

Love and peace

And ask if

Sacrifice of the innocent

Suppressing difference

Is asked of you

To spread the light

Only in the heart of a despot

Peace flows from the

Barrel of a gun

This post is in response to Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge .

Swimming against tide
Dark hostile environment
A precious life floats
Nine months and counting
Swimming and floating in peace
Harsh world waits outside
Swim, you precious soul
Cruel sharks circling around
Floating dangerous

Poison ivy she
Alluring beauty seduced
Peace now in my past

I do not dream anymore

I do not dream anymore
Dreams,not achieved
Do not bother
And ruin my days
Know what will be said
Labels will be assigned
Disappointment, failure
Underachiever, indifferent

I do not dream anymore
Just so that you know
Have left those days behind
When I used to see
The reflection in the mirror
And not recognize the face
Looking back at me
A face defined by others

I do not dream anymore
Made peace with myself
No need to look at the mirror
Because I know in my heart
I will like what I will see

I do not dream anymore
Dreams that probably
Were not mine
To begin with
But hope, I still hope
And I know that
I will be able to live
Without my dreams
And make a life of it

I do not dream anymore
Now that learnt to love myself
I  learnt to love
And share my love
Without fear of
Acceptance or rejection
I do not dream anymore

A clear blue sky
Lacks definition.
Without a dark night,
For a bright day
There is no appreciation.
Without its spots
Moon won’t be as beautiful,
Road lacking few road bumps,
Journey is uneventful.
A blemish free life
There is no story to tell,
Without the past of Jean Valjean
Les Misérables won’t ring a bell.
Calm sea hides
Deep secrets in its bosom,
Vibrant nature in a moment
Wrecks havoc and destruction.
A world at peace,
Will it be boring?
Thought of violence
To appreciate peace,
It is depressing.
Even without appreciation
Rose will still bloom,
Even if no one looks
Beauty is not doomed.
A bipolar world
May be the norm,
Not an aberration.
Life is a saga
Full of contradictions.

Divergent Thoughts: Set of Haikus

In the name of God
Millions tortured, maimed and killed
Still preach the gospel

The prophet of peace
Followers kill in his name
Mute spectators all

Tower of Babel
Merciful God’s punishment
Cursed diversity

Children of the book
Monotheistic all but
Which one is greatest

We want lasting peace
But peace on our own terms though
While the world suffers

Lie, cheat, commit sin
As long you serve our purpose
Get a mulligan

We worship same god
Speak different languages
Different, we fight

We speak same language
But worship different god
Different, we fight

Worship same, speak same
Different color of skin
Different, we fight

What is different
Language, color, religion
Same blood flows in vein
