All small things we worry about
Amount to nothing in big scheme of life
A whole life wasted in worrying
Oblivious that happiness beckons
If we learn to let go and share
Hand in hand with fellow travelers
The only place we call home
All small things we worry about
Amount to nothing in big scheme of life
A whole life wasted in worrying
Oblivious that happiness beckons
If we learn to let go and share
Hand in hand with fellow travelers
The only place we call home
Holiday season is upon us
Oh how wonderful to be alive
Let’s not forget those
In this season of love
Dreaming of holidays
As they fight to survive
You, I and we all, let’s
Share the love and joy all around
This post is in response to Eugenia’s BrewNSpew Cafe prompt for Dec 10.
I do not dream anymore
Dreams,not achieved
Do not bother
And ruin my days
Know what will be said
Labels will be assigned
Disappointment, failure
Underachiever, indifferent
I do not dream anymore
Just so that you know
Have left those days behind
When I used to see
The reflection in the mirror
And not recognize the face
Looking back at me
A face defined by others
I do not dream anymore
Made peace with myself
No need to look at the mirror
Because I know in my heart
I will like what I will see
I do not dream anymore
Dreams that probably
Were not mine
To begin with
But hope, I still hope
And I know that
I will be able to live
Without my dreams
And make a life of it
I do not dream anymore
Now that learnt to love myself
I learnt to love
And share my love
Without fear of
Acceptance or rejection
I do not dream anymore
Spread the joy of living
Share the joy
Sharing is bliss
Appreciate what you have
Achieve what you need
Acknowledge want
Rein in the greed
Nobody has seen tomorrow
This moment is what you have
Before it flies away
Grab it
And live life to the fullest
Why bother what tomorrow brings
If wealth would have been synonymous with being well, wealthy people may have lived much longer than many of us mere mortals. Though in general it is true that wealthy people do live longer, we do hear about super rich people dying early, many suffering from incurable diseases. Living longer does not automatically translate to living a happy life. I had the good fortune to meet a few people who had a very long and happy life. In all those people, I saw a common thread. Their wants were less, they had learnt more to give than to take and they were always glad to share their happiness with others. They all cared about others. Talking to them, I never heard them complain about life. They all had a positive attitude towards life and looked forward to tomorrow.
I am convinced in my mind that well-being and happiness is a state of mind than external factors like wealth and health. For sure good health has an impact on one’s well-being. However I had met people who were terminally ill but radiating warmth and a sense of well-being, as if they had accepted the final verdict and decided to go out with a smile on their face. These were people who wouldn’t not complain about their suffering but would rather inquire about the health of their visitors. So good health, though a major factor for one’s well-being, is not the sole criteria for well-being and happiness.
As part of week twenty five of my fifty two weeks journey with “W”, my sojourn today will be writing a poem starting with “Well-being”. Here is to wishing all my dear readers a life of well-being and happiness, I bid adieu till next Wednesday.

Everything good and beautiful in nature is free to be shared.
Yesterday
My friend shared a picture
Beautiful sunrise over the lake
Wish I was there
Could not reciprocate
Our sun was hiding
Dark rain clouds
Ominous and brooding
Another day,another morning
Rain clouds are gone
Glorious sunrise
Bright and warm
Nature’s reminder
We may not all be there, but
Everything good, everything beautiful
Is free to share
Everything and Nothing. And then some words.
taking daily steps towards achieving our health and life potential
Aren't songs of grief lullabies to the lost?
