WOMEN

First published on my blog on March 9, 2016 in honor of International Women’s Day. This poem was also a part of my “52 weeks journey with the letter “W”.
Women
Wonder everyday
Where would we be
Without them
Mother,sister,beloved,lover
Wife
Will we be complete
When there is none
World without women
What will it be
Caregiver,homemaker,soulmate,breadwinner
Where
We will find
Wonderful qualities all combined
Woe to the men
Who demeans women
Empathy,love,emotion,mercy
Women
With all fine qualities
Weaker sex why do we call
When for nine months
Womb carry the future world

Women
Without you
Where would we be
Wholeheartedly, without reservation
We salute thee

The Key, Lost

Have you found
The key to
Women’s heart
If you have
You are one of
The blessed ones
Even the gods have
Long surrendered
The quest
Unsolved mystery
There is no code
More complex
Hackers beware
The key was lost
Long ago
Before even the
Word was coined
So be at peace
Attachment brings
Only pain
Detachment scorn
Be your own
Waste not
Your precious time
Trying to decipher
That eluded
Myriads before
And will
Millions to come
Be at peace
Search abandoned

Alternate Facts

Accessible not affordable
What a Machiavellian choice
Affordable for those who have
Moon is accessible, travel affordable not
If one goes higher, let’s go lower
And hit below the belt
Respect women,sure, though won’t mind
Assaulting their privates
Freedom of speech do protects
Locker room talks
Boys will be boys, you know
Trickle down defies gravity
Wealth flows up, one percents make more
Balancing budget on the back of the next generation
Dynamic scoring is the name of the game
News not facts,  make it up as you go
Shouted loudly enough, fake will become facts
If our own tells a lie, does it matter
Challenged by media, deny it in twitter
Living in an alternate universe
Graduates of Goebbels University
Must be making the master propagandist proud
As Herr Goebbels withered bones turn in his grave
Jealous of his students’ fabulous skill
In presenting alternate facts

Week 6 of My Fifty Two Weeks Journey with “W”

Write Anything Wednesday

Yesterday was International Women’s Day. When I planned my vacation, that was not planned at all, I had scheduled to spend one day with my mother-in-law. At that time I had no idea about International Women’s Day.  I am happy that I had the opportunity to spend the day with an wonderful women yesterday.  My mother-in-law is a self taught person who had barely seen the inside of a formal school.  At a very early age she had to leave formal education and stay home to take care of her siblings after the unexpected death of her father. Married at seventeen, she raised five successful kids and with the encouragement of her husband completed her education. Married for fifty nine years, she lost her husband three years back.  Since then she is living alone independently learning new skills like managing personal finance, renters etc that used to be taken care of by my father-in-law.  She is a published writer writing in her mother tongue stories, articles and songs and very involved in her neighborhood community activities. As a tribute to her and International Women’s Day, the word I have chosen for week 6 of my fifty two weeks journey with letter “W” is “WOMEN”.
