Tuesday Photo Challenge – Three

I first thought it was tree
Then I noticed
The prompt was “Three

I only had a photo of trees
As luck would have it
There were three
So my conscience is free
Please hear my plea
Let me tell the story
Of the three trees

P1000825 (2)_3Trees

Our city forest suggested
The camphor tree
The one in the middle
To replace the uprooted
Juniper bushes
And they gave it free
On condition that
We attend classes
To take care of the tree
The tree will grow tall
May be upto meter thirty
We took good care
But it never seemed happy
Thought it may be lonely and
Decided to give it company
Our sagacious gardener advised
Plant two flowering cherry trees
They would grow fast
With their beautiful flowers
Three will be happy company
Alas the flowers do not last long
Beautiful though they are
They are company wrong
My workload has increased
Keeping the curb clean
In winter and spring
But the camphor tree seems happy
It provides all the greenery
Through the cold winters
To the leafless cherry trees
All through the summer
The verdant threesome
Provides shade and happiness
To neighbors and visitors alike
Parking their cars under
The shadow of the trees
So there goes the story
Of my three beautiful trees

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

  1. Lovely poem and story, PB. I love how it grew out of a mix-up, tree instead of three, but serendipitously fit in both regards. Glad you are being encouraged to plant and learn how to care for trees, too many are disappearing. Camphor looks happy to me and there is nothing prettier than cherry blossoms, though their season be short. 🙂
