We buy,
And then we flip,
And then we buy some more.
Mega mansions with space to
Share with none,
We surround ourselves with gizmos,
And reach out to connect to the world
With technology.
Touch, personal, discarded
In favor of virtual love,
Surrounded by trinkets,
Prisoners of four walls,
We compete in the race
For thousands of square feet.
And then we wait
For our final call,
To be confined in
A dark, windowless resting place
Six feet down under.
Too true!!! I chuckled and shared with my beloved. He laughed outright. So many of us forget or deny that we are all mortal. Waiting, alone, in a mega mansion, is no way to LIVE.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. There was a time when 1100 sqft used to house a happy family. Now we have 6000 + sq feet with empty nesters.

My husband grew up in one of those 1100 sq ft homes. We shake our heads at a sibling’s McMansion; nephews/nieces have begun leaving home and their parents are just starting to think about downsizing. I’m just glad I don’t have to furnish, clean or maintain that much house.

😂😂As we grow old, maintenance becomes an issue (unless one is fortunate enough to splurge).

Easy, interesting, and original way to provoke serious thoughts. Much truth.

Something wrong. We have started thinking alike😂

I’m worried. Hope you are growing wiser! Maybe I should remind you that I am not going to be confined in a box. My teacher comes out in appreciation for good writing and I forget that you are willing to settle in a box.

It does not matter where I die, the body will be consigned to flames. So I will have a taste of your hell before I leave 😂😂

I can’t make a joke of that, my dear friend. Peace. I’m wrapping up my evening. No nap for granny today so I’m going to bed before midnight tonight. Good night.

Good night Oneta.
One thing I have never been afraid of in my life is death. I fear half death.
