The poison I drank

In silence I suffer
The poison I drank,
Heart weeps lonely,
Tears run dry,
Afraid eyes may not lie,
I gaze at stars
At dead of night,
Words are damp
’cause my tears
rained on them,
Empty heart
Comes up barren,
When asked to give;
What value is
This life
That neither gives
Or takes,
Days pass by
As I merely survive;
Gently do I tread,
Walk to the grave,
Is lonely one;
At journey’s end waits
A cold embrace,
Mercy.

Poetry is my passion. I am not a methodical writer. I have no set topics to write about. What I feel, perceive, think about, I will like to share in this blog. I open my mind to the world. Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy. I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of those sunshine with my readers.

      1. If I am ever so wrong, how can I lose? Can my belief in an eternal God, Creator and Redeemer, mess me up if you are right. So aren’t I still going to be a “nothing” or worm or bird or something? I’m being serious.

      2. From nothing to nothing? Who knows? Atleast I don’t claim to have that knowledge.
        Only thing I know is that this earth is my only home and I try to leave it a better place for those to come.
        And I do know that though I don’t agree with my partner on many issues, if our path ever crosses in this world she should expect a bear hug. Of course it’s her choice. I am a pro-choice at heart.🙏

  1. The earth is in worse shape since I landed here than when I came. Granted. I, however, have left a gum wrapper nor cigarette butt in a drainage ditch nor any other blight that I know of. I haven’t succeeded in saving many babies but I have not killed one. God, Himself, gave man dominion over the earth, and man will have to account for what he does with it. If it is ravaged for greed, woe to that man. But if it is used for the benefit of mankind, I believe that is the will of God. I do not think any man should give up his livelihood to keep a snail alive however. I haven’t given up Pranab in Heaven; however, he won’t go if he doesn’t want to. At this point he is quite adamant that he will not be there. Sorry ’bout that.

    1. Hey partner, atleast in this we agree. As long as we are in this world, let us take care of the world to the best of our ability with malice towards none. After that Godspeed for you to heaven and I go from dust to dust (literally for me as we are cremated, so to ashes I go).

  2. I haven’t seen your black mood poem yet, but this one is dark. Dark but realistic. We are alone whatever we do and whatever we think. If we have a partner to walk with us, that’s the best we can hope for, and if we’re lucky, it’s all we’ll need.

    1. This last month there had been so many people that I knew, either directly or indirectly, passed away due to the pandemic that it is a struggle everyday to keep an upbeat mood.

      1. I’m lucky (I suppose) in not knowing anyone who has died of the covid, but since the pandemic started, I’ve lost two family members to other causes, and we’ve had our first grandbaby. Life.

      2. Yes.
        I was amazed at certain section of people who still in this date and time thinks asking people to wear masks in public is communism.
