Martyr to Truth

The path to truth
is a lonely one;
One not littered by
carcass of sycophants;
The day you step
on that path,
Rest assured that misery
shall keep you company
till your last breath;
Careful, lest you fall prey
To intolerance that you despise;
The day you step aside from truth,
and step gingerly,
Fearful of hurting feelings, and
Practice political correctness,
You die.

From that moment onward,
with an aching heart,
Lonely and miserable,
Your skeleton marches,
The rotting bones whisper
in your ears,
Words of wisdom
that you feel are true;
Alas,
No longer alive,
Your silence speaks for you;
And soon,
Another martyr to truth
bites the dust.

Story of the Broken Umbrella

Cold damp rainy day
With a bubbly in my hand
Reminiscing about the good old days
My eyes drifted towards the corner
An old broken umbrella
Leaning against the wall
What could have been
Those glorious days
Side by side we walked
Umbrella in my hand
Shading my beloved from
Sun or rain
One moment of chivalry
Turned into a life of misery
When I offered the umbrella
To the beautiful siren walking by
Clothes clinging to her body
Thoroughly drenched in rain
Nine stitches on my head
And my broken umbrella
Is the only memento I have
To ruminate about my ex
On a bleak rainy day

Worship

Worship I may not
One and only God
Rather I will
Silently make a prayer to
Humanity to stop these
Insane killing wars and let
Peace reign in this world

Worship I will not
On the alter of greed
Religions that teach and
Spread gospels of
Hatred and divisiveness
Insulting others who does not
Pray to their gods

Worship I can not
Only to have doubts
Ruining my life
Strength of my faith
Humble though it may be
I am sure one day
Pull me out of this misery

Worship I will
One that is
Ready to heal and bring a
Stop to the world’s
Hunger, hatred and heinous crimes
Imbibing in everyone’s heart a feeling of
Pride to be at peace with one and all

What

What do I have to lose
Heaven knows if I am not trying even
All that I can think of is
Time will not wait for me

Why do I have to worry
Hindsight is always 20/20
Anything I want to try
There is no guarantee

Where all fun has gone
Hard is life as it is
Add more misery to life
Tell me what I am going to gain

When I sum up everything
How blessed do I feel
Ample opportunities life has given
To be what I want to be
